A Time to Kill and a Time to Heal Viewing of the Film, “Dead Man Walking.”
The debate over capital punishment has recently increased. Several felons on death row have challenged the fairness and justice of their convictions. One recent prisoner, since executed, was viewed by many as innocent.
The 1995 film, Dead Man Walking, tells the story of Sister Helen Prejean who comforts a convict on death row and demonstrates compassion toward both the killer and his victims’ families. This is an opportunity to review the ethics of state sponsored murder and consider where our sentiments lie. Anastasia’s cookies will be served.
